This was an idea among friends, so that we could all share what we're reading, and have some good discussion. Since everyone can't get together regularly, livejournal was the best way to create a group that would enable sharing and discussion.
In the beginning stages, rules are subject to change and appear with minimal warning. for now, let's say:
1) members will each get a turn to select books for the group to read. The selection process will be done alphabetically.
2) community membership is moderated, therefore you need to go through me to join. i'm pretty nice, really, and once you're in you can post at will as long as: --You express your opinions with respect for everyone else and their opinions --save your teenage drama for highschool --and try to keep up with the reading... otherwise, why join a book club? (obviously we're all busy and might not always have time, but this is no fun if people don't get involved)
3) new books will be selected once a month. Depending on how fast everyone seems to finish, we might begin selecting 2 books per month. the person who selects each book can begin a thread for discussion, and everyone can reply there, to keep things tidy. this way, we should end up with one thread per book, and threads announcing new books and other community information.
